“Never Judge A book By Its Cover” Totally True When It Comes To This Australian Building.

Whittier, Alaska is a unique town and home to 222 citizens as of 2013. It is located on the Kenai Peninsula’s northeast shore and is just 75 miles from Anchorage, the most populous of all Alaska’s cities.

Finished in 1957, Whittier’s Begich Towers are known as “a city under one roof”. They contain 196 units in their 14 stories. Amazingly, the majority of residents of Whittier call the building home, as does the Whittier Police Department.

Whittier has just one school and serves students from preschool all the way through high school. In this video, we meet one of Whittier’s teachers and get a unique glimpse into life in this remarkable little town.
